Description

The Anasounds La Grotte is an all-in-one analogue spring reverb pedal that places a genuine mechanical three-spring tank directly inside the enclosure, delivering authentic spring reverb on a standard pedalboard without the need for an external tank. Developed in close collaboration with Jack White, the Anasounds La Grotte reimagines the original Anasounds Element concept in a single, self-contained format suited to modern touring and studio rigs. It is equally at home with clean, edge-of-breakup or driven amplifiers, making it a versatile choice for guitarists and bass players working across blues, garage, soul, pop, indie and experimental styles.

At its core is a real three-spring reverb tank that produces the unmistakable depth, splash and harmonic complexity only moving metal springs can create. From subtle, vintage ambience to bold, saturated surf textures and dense, self-oscillating atmospheres, Anasounds La Grotte responds with a lively, organic character that digital emulations struggle to replicate. The addition of a third spring increases decay and dimensionality, allowing long, cavernous tails from a compact enclosure. As with any true mechanical spring, physical interaction is part of the experience, adding expressive potential for players who enjoy tactile sound design.

The feel is immediate and dynamic. The Dry control governs not only the clean signal level but also drives the onboard preamp, adding warmth and controllable grit as it is increased. This makes Anasounds La Grotte capable of acting as a subtle tone sweetener, a gritty boost, or a more aggressive front-end push into an amplifier. The Wet control adjusts the level of the reverberated signal and can also push the reverb path harder, opening up more intense and atmospheric textures. Together, these controls allow precise balancing of clarity and ambience, whether used as an always-on foundation or a dramatic effect.

A powerful two-band EQ shapes only the reverberated signal. The Low control adjusts the bass response of the reverb tail, from tight and focused to thick and booming. The High control manages the top end, from dark and smoky to bright and cutting. Because the EQ affects only the wet signal, players can fine-tune how the reverb sits in a mix without altering the core dry tone. This approach is particularly useful for bass players who want spaciousness without sacrificing low-end definition.

Internally, Anasounds La Grotte features additional configuration options, including pad, fade-in and selectable true bypass or reverb trails, along with trim controls for preamp gain and fade-in behaviour. These allow players to tailor headroom, response and spillover to suit their rig. An elegant switching solution minimises unwanted spring noise when engaging the pedal, making it practical for live use despite its fully mechanical design.

The enclosure is robust and engineered to house the integrated tank securely. A black metal chassis with engraved detailing and a plexiglass window reveals the three springs beneath, combining practicality with distinctive stage presence. The illuminated spring chamber provides a clear visual cue when powered, while the layout remains intuitive and accessible on a crowded board.

True bypass preserves the integrity of the dry signal when disengaged, with the option of trails for natural reverb decay. Top-mounted jack sockets make pedalboard placement straightforward, and the standard 9V centre-negative power requirement ensures compatibility with most professional supplies.

Anasounds La Grotte stands out by delivering genuine three-spring mechanical reverb in a single, performance-ready enclosure, enhanced by a characterful preamp and flexible wet-only EQ. For players who want the depth and unpredictability of real springs with modern control and reliability, it offers a compelling and musically inspiring solution.

Controls
