Description

The Intensive Care Audio Fideleater is a lo-fi chorus, vibrato and delay pedal designed to bring character, movement and creative unpredictability to guitar and bass rigs. Equally at home in indie, ambient, experimental, post-punk and alternative styles, it moves from subtle detuning and tape-like wobble to unstable, glitch-driven delay textures. Used sparingly, it adds depth and width; pushed harder, it delivers warped modulation and fractured digital repeats that reshape an otherwise polite signal.

Sonically, the Intensive Care Audio Fideleater blends modulation and delay in a way that feels organic yet slightly unhinged. At lower depth settings it offers gentle chorus shimmer and seasick vibrato, while higher settings introduce pronounced pitch movement and artefacts that flirt with digital breakdown. The dry/wet blend allows it to sit naturally in a mix, retaining clarity for rhythm work or removing the dry signal entirely for full vibrato immersion. With feedback engaged and delay time extended, the pedal shifts towards hazy, lo-fi delay with intensified modulation, producing anything from lush warble to twitchy, broken-tape style textures.

In use, the Intensive Care Audio Fideleater feels intuitive but never predictable in a dull way. The modulation responds dynamically to playing, and the available waveforms encourage experimentation without becoming complicated. Tap tempo keeps modulation speeds in time with a track or band, making it practical on stage as well as in the studio. From subtle movement behind clean chords to exaggerated wobble for noise passages, it invites creative risk while remaining controllable.

Six primary controls shape the core sound. An eight-position Wave Function rotary selects a range of LFO shapes, including random, stepped and classic waveforms, offering everything from smooth sweep to jagged rhythmic pulses. Depth sets the intensity of modulation, with higher settings introducing deliberate glitching and artefacts. Freq adjusts modulation speed and works in conjunction with tap tempo for precise timing. The Dry/Wet control blends the unaffected and modulated signals, moving from chorus through to fully wet vibrato. The Contract switch opens a feedback path within the delay circuit, adding resonant, warbling repeats, while the Untie switch extends delay time and increases modulation intensity for more pronounced, delay-like behaviour.

The circuit combines analogue and digital elements to achieve its distinctive lo-fi character while maintaining reliability and consistency. Relay based true bypass switching preserves signal integrity when the effect is disengaged, making it easy to integrate into complex pedalboards without unwanted tonal colouring.

Built by hand in London, England, the Fideleater uses high quality components and features soft touch momentary footswitches for both bypass and tap tempo. The metal wedge enclosure is finished in textured black powder coat, offering durability for regular gigging. Two tone colourways and clear, clinical-inspired graphics make the controls easy to read under stage lighting while giving the pedal a distinctive visual identity.

An LED indicator shows when the effect is engaged and also reflects modulation speed, providing immediate visual feedback. The soft touch, relay based true bypass ensures quiet switching and consistent tone. Side mounted jack sockets support efficient pedalboard layout, and the pedal runs on standard 9V centre negative power for straightforward integration with modern power supplies. Backed by the manufacturer’s lifetime warranty, the Fideleater stands out as a distinctive, creatively open modulation and delay tool for players who want more than standard chorus or vibrato.

Controls

  • LEFT FOOTSWITCH: Engages effect via relay based true bypass
  • RIGHT FOOTSWITCH: Sets modulation speed by tapping desired tempo
  • WAVE FUNCTION: Selects eight LFO waveforms from smooth sweep to stepped and random
  • DEPTH: Sets modulation intensity; above noon introduces pronounced glitching
  • FREQ: Adjusts modulation speed; works with tap tempo for rhythmic control
  • DRY/WET: Blends dry and effected signals; chorus fully CCW, vibrato fully CW
  • CONTRACT: Engages feedback path for resonant, warbling repeats
  • UNTIE: Extends delay time and intensifies modulation for glitchy delay textures

  • Tap tempo with dedicated soft touch footswitch
  • Relay based true bypass for signal integrity
  • Neutrik jack sockets for reliable connections
  • Soft touch momentary switches for quiet operation

Current draw may vary slightly depending on control settings, circuit behaviour, and active features such as gain stages, modulation, filtering, or reverb tails. For best performance, use a high quality isolated power supply that matches the pedal’s current requirements. Always refer to the manufacturer’s recommendations, as incorrect powering may cause damage.
