Description

The LPD Pedals Sixty8 captures the unmistakable roar and response of a late ’60s British amp stack, delivering that classic Plexi tone in a compact, road ready pedal. Designed by Lawrence Petross, it was created to reproduce the sound and feel of his favourite 1968 Plexi 12000 series amp, dynamic, harmonically rich, and full of musical sustain. With its soft touch true bypass switching, last state memory, top mounted jacks, and a touch more gain on tap than before, the LPD Pedals Sixty8 is as practical as it is inspiring. Running on 9 to 18 volts, it fits easily into any pedalboard power setup and keeps your rig tidy and reliable.

The sound is pure British authority. It delivers the growl, chime, and punch of a cranked Marshall stack without the back breaking weight or ear splitting volume. The tone is dynamic and open, with completely natural note decay and no unwanted fizz or harshness. It responds beautifully to pick attack and the guitar’s volume control, letting players move effortlessly between clean, edge of breakup crunch and full bodied overdrive. There’s plenty of sustain without excessive distortion, and the result is expressive, touch sensitive, and alive under the fingers.

Playing through the LPD Pedals Sixty8 feels like plugging into a real amp. It’s quick to respond, rich in harmonics, and brings out every nuance of your playing style. Whether you’re digging in for thick rhythm work or rolling off for articulate cleans, the LPD Pedals Sixty8 reacts instinctively, giving a natural sense of control and connection. It’s equally at home delivering jangly, biting tones for rhythm or smooth, sustaining drive for lead work, making it versatile enough for almost any style that demands character and feel.

The controls are thoughtfully voiced to shape your sound without fuss. The Gain knob doubles as a shelving EQ, as the gain increases, low frequencies are gently reduced to keep the bottom end tight and defined. The Bass control, placed before the clipping stage, restores or enhances the low end, allowing you to fine tune the response to suit your guitar and amp. This interaction mimics the channel blending of a classic Plexi, giving you the option to mix in the “Normal” channel feel. The Treble control adds sparkle and presence when needed, making it easy to dial in anything from warm and woody to sharp and cutting.

Inside, the circuit is built around wide body SMD JRC4558D op amps, film capacitors, germanium diodes, and MOSFET clipping stages. Feedback loops are precisely tuned to recreate the harmonic behaviour and pick sensitivity of the original amps that inspired it. The relay based true copper bypass ensures the signal remains pure and transparent when the pedal is off, preserving the integrity of your tone.

The LPD Pedals Sixty8’s enclosure is made from cast aluminium for strength and durability, finished in Oxford White with a refined textured surface and distinctive artwork that stands out on any pedalboard. The layout is clean and intuitive, with top mounted input, output, and DC jacks for straightforward cable routing and better use of pedalboard space. The soft touch footswitch is custom designed for quiet, reliable operation, and the bright LED indicator makes it easy to see the LPD Pedals Sixty8’s status, even on dark stages.

Every component has been chosen for reliability and feel, right down to the custom aluminium knobs, selected for their smooth rotation and precise resistance. The LPD Pedals Sixty8’s code controlled switching includes last state memory, meaning it powers up in the same state it was in when you last used it, a small but meaningful touch for working players.

The LPD Sixty8 Drive offers peace of mind and musical satisfaction in equal measure. It’s quiet, versatile, and built to withstand years of gigs and rehearsals. For guitarists chasing that unmistakable late ’60s British tone the crunch, the sag, the harmonic bloom, the LPD Pedals Sixty8 delivers it in spades without the need for a towering amp stack. It’s the sound of a classic Plexi, captured in a box that feels as good as it sounds. Your back will thank you.
