Description

The OKKO FX Motorbass is a high-headroom analogue bass distortion created in memory of Lemmy Kilmister and inspired by the sonic character of his customised 1976 Marshall Super Bass stack, known as ‘Murder One’. Designed primarily for bass but equally at home on guitar, it delivers the ultra powered rumbling grind associated with classic Motörhead recordings while remaining practical and versatile for modern rigs. It suits rock, hard rock and punk players who want authoritative drive that cuts through a busy mix without sacrificing weight.

Tonally, the OKKO FX Motorbass produces a raw, tight distortion with a slight fuzz edge and strong upper-mid presence, allowing fast power chords and picked lines to retain definition. Unlike many bass distortions that become muddy with chords, or guitar pedals that strip away low end, this circuit keeps the bottom intact while adding the right amount of grind and bite. The result is a forceful yet controlled sound that sits naturally alongside heavy guitars. It also works effectively as a driven boost, pushing an amp’s front end while maintaining clarity and punch.

The feel is immediate and responsive, particularly with a pick. Notes remain articulate across the fretboard, and the pedal reacts dynamically to playing intensity. Lower gain settings provide gritty edge and added presence, while higher settings deliver full-throttle distortion that remains tight rather than flabby. It encourages confident, aggressive playing without becoming harsh or overly fizzy.

Control is deliberately straightforward. FASTER adjusts gain from near clean through to saturated drive. HARDER shapes the upper mids and treble, starting relatively flat and becoming more aggressive as it is increased. LOUDER provides substantial output level, offering enough volume to act as a serious boost if required. The three controls interact musically, making it easy to find a cutting rock tone quickly without complex EQ adjustments.

Internally, the OKKO FX Motorbass runs at 24 volts via a charge pump while using a standard 9V supply. This increased internal voltage provides significantly greater headroom, contributing to its tight low end, improved note separation and strong dynamic response. Carefully chosen filtering ensures the distortion remains focused and controlled across the frequency range. The circuit is fully analogue for immediate response and dependable performance.

Each unit is hand built and wired in Leipzig, Germany by musicians and technicians, using high quality components selected for reliability and consistent tone. The pedal is housed in a durable, all-metal textured enclosure designed to withstand regular gigging and transport.
