The Anasounds Utopia MKII is the latest evolution of the Utopia delay, originally released ten years ago alongside the Savage. That first pedal helped establish Anasounds as a serious name in boutique effects by proving that delay could sound warm and full without losing clarity. Traditional tape and bucket brigade echoes often darken the high end, while digital delays can sound too clinical. The Anasounds Utopia found a balance between the two using the PT2399 chip and an ingenious filtering system. With the Utopia MKII, Anasounds has refined that balance even further.

The new version carries the spirit of the original while introducing technical and tonal improvements developed through years of research. It offers a smoother, quieter signal with an exceptionally low noise floor, and it focuses on pure playability rather than unnecessary complexity. Gone is the second PT2399 chip found in the Deluxe model, resulting in a shorter maximum delay time but a cleaner sound. The result is a delay that excels at slapback and shorter, more textured echoes, while still producing rich ambient repeats up to around 400 milliseconds. 

The Anasounds Utopia MKII also features a Tilt EQ control that lets players shape the tone of their repeats, rolling off treble to add warmth or boosting it for clarity and presence. A three way modulation switch provides two flavours of movement plus an off position. One mode delivers a gentle tape echo style wobble, while the other can be customised through internal trimpots that adjust the depth and speed of modulation, offering tones that range from subtle chorus to pronounced lo fi vibrato. Inside, guitarists can also select between True Bypass and Trails Bypass, allowing repeats to fade naturally when the pedal is switched off. 

In keeping with its straightforward design, the pedal features simple controls for Time, Feedback, Mix, and Tone. The Time knob sets the delay length, from tight slapbacks to lush, medium repeats; Feedback determines how many echoes are produced, from a single repeat to full self oscillation; Mix blends the repeats with the dry signal; and Tone shapes the colour of the echoes. These controls make it easy to move from precise rhythmic delays to dreamy, evolving soundscapes. 

The Anasounds Utopia MKII compact format, top mounted jacks, and 9 volt DC power input make it a practical addition to any board. With its high input impedance and low output impedance, it integrates cleanly into both modern and vintage setups.
